Comments
When visitors leave comments, I collect the data shown in the comment form, as well as the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent to help detect spam.
An anonymized hash of your email address may be sent to the Gravatar service to check if you use it.

After your comment is approved, your profile picture (if you have one) becomes visible to the public next to your comment.
Media
If you upload images to the website, avoid uploading photos that include embedded location data (EXIF GPS).
Other visitors may be able to download and extract that information.
Cookies
If you leave a comment, you may choose to save your name, email, and website in cookies. This is for your convenience so you don’t have to re-enter your information the next time you comment. These cookies last for one year.
If you visit the login page, a temporary cookie will be created to check if your browser accepts cookies. It contains no personal data and is deleted when you close your browser.
When you log in, I set several cookies to save your login details and display preferences.
- Login cookies last for two days.
- Display settings cookies last for one year.
- If you choose “Remember Me,” your login stays active for two weeks.
When you log out, login cookies are removed.
If you edit or publish a post, an additional cookie will be set. It contains the post ID of the article you edited and expires after one day. No personal data is included.
Embedded Content from Other Websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content such as videos, images, or articles.
Embedded content behaves just as if you visited the external website directly.
Those websites may:

Who I Share Your Data With
If you request a password reset, your IP address may be included in the reset email.
How Long I Retain Your Data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are stored indefinitely. This allows future comments from you to be automatically approved.
If users register on this site (if enabled), I store the personal information provided in their user profile.
Users can view, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except their username).
I can also view and edit that information.
Your Data Rights
If you have an account on this site or have left comments, you may request:
- An exported file of the personal data I hold about you
- That I erase any personal data I hold about you
This excludes data I must keep for administrative, legal, or security reasons.
Where Your Data Is Sent
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
